Safe to say that I have plenty of dreams – both big and small. They span from 1 week to as far as 10 years away.

This is the second part in the Defining Success series. Here I list both my personal and professional goals. Beginning with professional goals, each has a description with a given time of completion in months. Personal goals follow the same format.

The goals in both categories are listed in order of earliest to farthest completion date. Some goals have multiple actions that have been grouped into one item where the completion dates are the same.

Side Note

A reminder: these are things, no matter how lofty, that I genuinely want to make happen and that most of which terrify me.

Also to note, there are differences in this text from the narrated version. I modified the audio script to facilitate a listener not having the visuals included here.

Now let’s get to it beginning with the professional goals.

Pro Goals

The theme I followed for professional goals was listing business ideas, client work, product launches, and any other income source. I have 23 professional goals some of which are linked.

Wow, I don’t really have time to BS. Most of these professional aspirations will require more hands to make real. I’m not worried about that part. The key to getting people on board is talking about it with enthusiasm. And also money. Money is a key too.

My point is that I’m not worried about the bodies needed to help me. I trust the Law of Attraction. There’s something magnetic about people who are competent in what they want from the world and why. So we’ll all find each other and make things happen. I’ll just hammer at my parts so I’ll be prepared for the opportunities.

Next, let’s run through those personal goals.

Personal Goals

I landed on only 20 personal goals. Admittedly, I dialed back a little bit. There are some things I need to achieve that are personal to the second power. Nonetheless, there’s still plenty of frankness in what I’ve shared.

The personal goals are a lot more dynamic. But I’m not joking. Especially about Bubblehead! Homes shouldn’t cost what they do. You’re paying for all those damn walls. BTW I’m gonna have to figure out how to make a fireplace in the center of a Quonset hut – without risking its structural integrity. I digress.

It was really good to see these on paper. None of them seem too crazy. And yeah again, there’s a lot of them that are far beyond my knowledge, present income, and comfort zone.

The good news is that everything in both lists is doable. Because why not?

Conclusion

This part of the Defining Success Series was pretty important to me. It forced me to take two huge steps: writing the goals; choosing a time to achieve them. Something I’m not proud of is that I’ve never been this comprehensive about goal-setting.

There were items that didn’t make the cut because I also needed to be – and I hate this word – realistic. One example was an MBA. For context, I’m not saying I won’t pursue an MBA in my lifetime. I might. Since I couldn’t see where doing that school work would fit in with the rest of my plans, I couldn’t give it a realistic time of completion. I would’ve been shooting in the dark on that one.

At one point in writing these lists, I said to myself “Ok, are we still going?”. This exercise turned out more data than I expected. Nothing crazy – I think. I want to see a lot of things happen. But I’m geeked about kicking myself out of the comfort zone repeatedly. That’s where magic happens and where you surprise yourself.

The reality is that I will fail at some of these. I’m good with that. Gonna win some, gonna lose some. What I won’t settle for is not trying and being stuck with the question of whether or not I could have succeeded.

In the next and final part of the Defining Success Series, I’m gonna talk about trying, expectations, and finish lines.

In the AMP version, visitors clicking images of the lists of goals to view the full resolution images were getting crazy AMP errors.
I fixed the problem by eliminated the images WP shortcode which doesn’t play well with AMP.
    Sorry about that!
